Monet’s Garden in Giverny was created by this great impressionist painter. It was arranged with the eye of a painter and not that of a gardener and that makes them special. Your visit starts in the famous water-garden where Japanese bridges cross the water-lily pond.  You then visit the formal garden in front of his house and eventually you have a chance to see the house itself.  There is a good boutique where you can buy an ‘original’ Monet and many other things, too.   

You will have a whole day to explore the Château of Versailles with the option of exploring this large area by historic horse-drawn carriage.  The Great Stables have been restored and opened to the public in February 2003.  The mirrors in the famous Hall of Mirrors have all been replaced during very recent restoration work and it looks now even more impressive than before. Its formal gardens are stunning as well as massive and on a Saturday its fountains ‘play’ to music!

As usual, you will be able to see and learn everything about Paris on our always exciting guided coach tour of Paris and there will also be the chance to see Paris by Night from the river Seine on one of the legendary Bateaux Mouche.   

Our tour is based in the superb Hotel Mercure Paris Montmartre (French ***), a stone’s throw from the legendary ‘Moulin Rouge’ and in the centre of the ‘most Parisian’ quarter of the city, close to the Basilica of Sacre Cæur and Place du Tertre, the square where the impressionist painters movement began.

Wednesday:      Departures 06:00 to 06.30 hrs; lunchtime train; early evening arrival in Paris

Thursday:            Guided Coach Tour of Paris; free time to explore Montmartre
